“If you want to forget something or someone, never hate it, or never hate him/her. Everything and everyone that you hate is engraved upon your heart; if you want to let go of something, if you want to forget, you cannot hate.”

After an interesting couple of months, I have come to a conclusion. The human heart is made of clay. A softer, malleable substance that can be imprinted on for better or for worse. The people you allow into your life will all become the sculptor (skilled or not) who has the precious task of shaping and forming such a delicate, yet rugged organ. Those who wish you well will usually take great care with the artwork they are entrusted with. Accidents happen; therefore, there will always be damage even in care. Then there are those who do not have this artwork's best interests in mind. They forget the sole purpose of such beauty and only wish to twist and warp it for their own gain. Likewise, without the tender skillful touch of a loved one, the heart can become hardened to feel and change. The same goes for an overly damaged heart. Once left to decay one too many times, the heart begins to allow a thickening to occur. This protective barrier allows for no imprints left, but does allow cracks to settle and eventually penetrate the compressed barrier. We must carefully chose who we have in our lives because for better or worse each will have an impact and leave an imprint.
